Small Gas Forge
By Kennen Hiss

Drill a hole in the bell reducer just below the rim, big enough to hold the 1/8" feed pipe. Put some small set screws in the top of the reducer to hold the pipe in place. The venture needs to be centered down the center of the pipe.

You need an adjustable regulator on he propane tank. I have one that goes from 0-50 psi.

My fire bricks are 4-1/2" X 9" X 1-1/4" think; the 6" X 6" tube has ¼" wall and is 8" long. The Duraboard is 1" thick.

I-bolts are welded on the top side toward each end with a removable handle that hooks to them because the forge does get hot during use.

A bracket is welded on both sides in the rear so the fire brick can slide in or out, depending on the shape of the stock or item to be heated.

The burner slides in and out of the coupling. The coupling is welded to the center of the tube. The threads on the nipple and the coupling were ground off so this can happen. Editor's note: A flange could be used here. Either with a flange or a coupling, a setscrew should be used to hold the pipe in place.
